Secrets to Creating a Realistic Seascape Painting with Patrick Okrasinski
Absolutely the best demonstration of contour and values I have ever seen. Lyn is fantastic!

I have bought many of Albert Handell’s books and his video on Pastels yes he is a genius and great artist
Go, Lyn!
Thank you for the tip of the plastic bags
What about the pigments being absorbed by your fingers?
Thank you for the wonderful demo from New Braunfels TX.
Thanks Eric. Made my day. Luv you🥰
I was late but watched ever second with adorable Lyn D. Highlight of my 4th!!!
Should have focused more on the demo

Susan maybe create a book with your PowerPoints.
Where can you get the titanium palette knife
Eric you did a great job for us in covid. 👍
My wife didn't like that i didnt bring any water melon
Suburb of Chicago Westchester. Learned with oil pastels and chalk pastels but was told about using alcohol but never was shown so, thank you for sharing. I learned with oil pastels in college. I have loved using them and always used a tortilla to blend oil pastels and we called the paper stumps in art class to blend colors and I was first to do it in the art class. They are fun and easy to use and blend from dark to light. We did portraits in class with them. What pastel paper do you use? My sister birthday is on the 4th if July and we have strawberry short cake added to traditional foods. Watch fireworks from top of a parking garage. Thank you for sharing!👍😊

I still see a figure-ground reversal similar to Eric's comment at the onset of this video. I think it's because of the light horizontal line above the brown area, making it read as a figure and not an aperture.
Blicks have them in packets
Inflation is killing arts. We can't afford classes. I took a one day class with Susan not too long ago. Zvonko Scappoose Or.
How about the price of good quality art supplies? It's getting very pricey
Thank you Kathie many light bulbs went off in my head thanks to you sharing👍👏🏻✝️♥️
Art schools are closing because there's no money to be made as an artist - except for the top 1-2% highly talented or well connected (to wealth) individuals. 'Starving artist' is both the narrative and the reality. With AI moving in to automate art, painting and such has always been for the rich and well connected and now the chosen few are growing smaller and smaller in number... you may as well learn shoeing horses or shearing sheep if you want to be unique and still feed your family.
And the online tutors are so good at teaching! Inspiration! The art stores are probably doing well.
There are more people painting now than ever were. You are not talking about painting, you are talking about making money, which is a completely separate thing
@@Heronjim - The original poster said art schools are closing because of less students majoring in art- I said it's because there's no money in it (for artists), NOT that people no longer like to paint. It's become a hobby for pleasure,, schools and academies can't suvive teaching hobbies.
Thank you for helping us heal.
Used to camp and paint in Anza-Borrego for years. Made that hike numerous times. This really brought back some memories. Miss it so much.
Holiday and also my son's birthday is always fun. California has so many opportunities for artists.
Oh, the cow looks as if she is asking us, "Are you seeing this?" Wouldn't it be funny if that humour made this Ryan's most famous legacy piece of art!!! Thanks, I am painting from what is in my head and I needed advice to get it out before I lose it. This is perfect. Especially when people interrupt and become the source of going blank. "Taking authority" is exactly what we want to do. Not being timid or tossing it out or discouraged because of a lost opportunity is real soldier style overcoming. Dive in, the water's fine!

How do I send a painting for feedback Friday?
Hello from Salzburg Austria, i love brad tears style and technik sooooo much 💕💯🎨🎨🎨 i hope it soooo much that comes a new painting video (to buy) from brad teare !!!! Thank YOU very very much for this great Video and teaching brad !!!! Very very best regards, robert
Thank you , such a great teacher :)
My dad’s name is Gregory too :) I love your style of paining so beautiful:)
I’d love those value finder glasses but you didn’t put the link in the description. I’m in Australia and freight is an absolute killer! I’m hoping when I find them on your site they’ll be cheap enough to buy to justify the dollar exchange and freight. Also what was the brand of the palette knives?

Check your local drug stores/chemists for red lens sunglasses; they work Exactly the same as the so-called "value glasses", plus they will much cheaper!! G'Day!! LOL ;D
Hi from Wyoming!
In one of your videos Mrs Chola painted on a monocolor underpainting which was also very helpful. Thanks.
Hi from California 🎉
Thanks Brad, great lesson. Beautiful painting!
Good topic Eric and Brad. For landscape painting in particular, be it plein air or studio, the value scale and how to use it is a must to understand! I have little hand painted scales in both my backpack and on my studio easel. It's very helpful if you get sort of stuck as to which way to go, value-wise. When I began plein air landscape painting, mid-90's, coming from several years before as wildlife painter in the studio, I devoured all the books I could on the subject. One of best being Keven Macpherson's. He had many neat homemade tools in there, and how to make them, like the color isolator, the view finder, both made as cardboard cut outs, and a "value finder" made of red clear plastic. Same functionally as your glasses you sell now Eric. Quite by accident, on a trip to Las Vegas, in the late 90's, I found my "value glasses" from a street vendor selling "Elvis-inspired" stuff including red lens sunglasses, in a chrome frame. Very cool looking and they work well, of course, to see the landscape before you in grey values! But the issue, always, when I wear them, is to try to refrain from breaking into my not-so-great impressions of the great King of Rock and Roll!! "Huh, ha, ha, huh, ha, ha, huh ha ha!!,. Thank you, Thank you very much, ...Momma", ...I mean Eric!! LOL ;D Cheers from southern AZ.
